Board Meeting August 25, 2009

Present - Board Members - Randy Bailey, Jim Kramer, Mark Dohn, Bruce Jeffries, Don Jewell and Joanne Bronson.   Members - Dick Molnar

The meeting was called to order by President Randy Bailey,

OLD BUSINESS:
Boat storage was addressed again.  Don researched building a new area for storage and supplies alone would be over $8,000.  Randy visited the storage area at North Lake and now that it has been cleaned up there is room for more boats.  Many residents that do not live here year round store their boats in their garages which would make more space for storage.  It was decided that we would see how things play out this year to decide if there is still a problem.

Joanne brought items for the red cross boxes and Jim Kramer suggested buying hard plastic tool boxes to store the items in.  Approximate cost of the completed boxes would be around $110 - 120 each.  The boxes will be located on the lots of Randy & Judy Bailey Lot #2 & 3, Johnny & Sarah Schrunk Lot #47, Bill & Joanne Bronson Lot #29 and Jim & Sharon Kramer Lot #34.  Items included in the box will include:
     1.  2 ace wraps                                        6.  Tape
     2.  cold pack                                            7.  Antibacterial wipes
     3.  Bactine spray                                      8.  Assorted bandaids
     4.  liquid bandage                                     9.  A Blanket
     5.  Gauze pads
The boxes will be clearly visible from the lake and will have a red cross on them.  Joanne will talk with Mike Dodge from North Lake concerning getting some help in funding the boxes from the game and parks boat safety commission.

NEW BUSINESS:
The Middle Island sign on one side is slated to be removed so that North Lake can be placed on one side.  If they are able to remove the sign intact the plan is to place it by the bridge end of the lake.  Bruce offered brick for the project.

Don and Jim will remove the speed bumps around Labor Day.

Don brought up that there were several car breakins on both Middle Island and North Lake on 8/22.  The cars were all unlocked and rifled through for items of value.  Jim checked the gate activity and there were no signs that this was an outside job.  Most likely it was a visiting guest or someone who drove in during the day while the gate was open and waited for night fall.  BE SURE TO LOCK YOUR CAR and avoid leaving any valuables in sight.

Alan at HomeState Bank in Louisville notified Don that the bank is interested in helping with financing in the event that the lot sales go through.

In light of the deaths that have occurred on area lakes we all need to be more diligent about boating safety.  Some common infractions seen on our lake include:
     1.  Overloading boats, standing up in a moving boat, turning clockwise instead of counter-
clockwise at the end of the lake, driving while sitting on the side of the boat, passengers sitting on the side on hanging off the back of a moving boat, neglecting to use an orange flag when a skier is down, following too close to another boat pulling a skier.
PLEASE make a concerted effort to see that ALL people driving your boat obey the rules.

Bruce brought up that there have been questions lately as to the rules governing the size of boats on the lake and engine sizes.  There has been no change in the rules since 2003.  It was decided that we need to create a boat committee to investigate what is in the best interest of the lake.  There have been many changes in types of boats available and our rules don't address these bigger boats.  The committee would make recommendations to be voted on at our annual meeting so that we can be consistent and prevent further erosion of the lake.  Mark Dohn will head up this committee.  If any cabin owners would like to serve on this committee, please contact Mark.

Randy called for adjournment and Jim Kramer seconded.

The next meeting will be on September 29th, 2009 at Bruce Jeffries Home Lot #23 at 7 p.m.
